Biomedical engineering (BME) is the application of engineering principles and techniques to the medical field. It combines the design and problem solving skills of engineering with the medical and biological science to help improve patient health care and the quality of life of healthy individuals. It is a broad multidisciplinary field that offers rewarding careers related to computer science, electrical engineering, engineering physics, mathematics and statistics, mechanical engineering, software engineering and agricultural and biosystems engineering. Biomedical Engineers design and develop instruments for diagnosis and rehabilitation. As a biomedical engineer, they can be involved in formulating a new scheme of diagnosis method, analysis and decision making procedures that enhance the quality of the health care system. They can develop innovative biologics materials, processes, implants and informatics for patient rehabilitation and for improving health.
The intake capacity is 60 students per year.
